How to paste in excel from horizontal to vertical
Let us take a sample dataset for practice. Please see the screenshot below. There are six names listed in the horizontal direction. We will copy this horizontal data and paste it in the vertical direction.
To perform the task please follow the instructions below:
- Select all the cells and copy them by pressing Ctrl + C on your keyboard.
- Alternatively, you can copy them by right-clicking and selecting copy from the menu.
- Move your cursor and select the cell where you want to paste in the vertical direction.
- Go to the Home tab, click on the Paste button and select Paste Special from the Other paste Options.
- Alternatively, you can right-click on the cell and select Paste Special from the menu.
- Paste Special dialogbox will open. Select the checkbox Transpose, and click OK. Keep other options as it is[Paste: All, Operation: None].
- Your horizontal data will paste in a vertical direction like the below screenshot.
How to paste vertical to horizontal in excel
